The best way to remove wax drips from Laura's Shabbat candlesticks is with a hairdryer and then wipe them with a soft cloth. Another way is with a little hot water.

On Shabbat, orthodox Jews are prohibited from doing any kind of work, including creating electricity or striking a match. The shabbat candlesticks are therefore lit just before the Shabbat comes in.

It is a mitzvah for Jews to light candles on a Friday evening to welcome in the Jewish Sabbath, or day of rest - the "Shabbat". Traditionally, one candle is lit to remember the Sabbath and the other as a reminder to observe the Sabbath. After lighting the candles, the Jewish woman welcomes in the Sabbath, covers her eyes with her hands and recites a blessing. If a man lives alone, then he should light the Shabbat candles.
