Apollo Mezuzah

$250.00

The Apollo Mezuzah was inspired by the mission to land a man on the moon. Its rocket form draws from that era of ambition and engineering, while the sculptural shin references the distinctive Apollo spacecraft windows.

In 2008, NASA astronaut Greg Chamitoff contacted Laura directly to purchase one. On his second expedition to the International Space Station, he asked whether she would like him to take an Apollo Mezuzah into space and return it to her. The mezuzah travelled aboard Expedition 17 and now sits in the studio with a NASA certificate.

Each piece is handmade by Laura in her studio using traditional silversmithing techniques, including sawing, filing, drilling and polishing. The shin is created by oxidising copper and gently buffing it back to reveal a subtle warmth beneath the surface. Every mezuzah is signed.
